Braxton Miller Out For The Season

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller has torn the labrum in his right shoulder. As a result, the rising star will miss the 2014 season in its entirety.

According to reports Miller picked up the injury whilst in training on Monday. The tear happened during a non-contact drill which required the QB to make a seven-yard throw. This is a recurrence of the injury Miller suffered earlier this year. During the 40-35 loss to Clemson, blew out his shoulder and required surgery to fix it.

Throughout the 2013 season Miller was a key player for Ohio State. He passed for 2094 yards, scoring 24 touchdowns and rushed for 1,068 yards with 12 scores during his junior year. Prior to his shoulder issues Miller been forced to miss game time through injury.

During his senior year at high school Miller missed out on large portion of the season. That bad luck followed him to college football, as a freshman he suffered a ankle injury an was forced out of the game against Nebraska. Despite holding the lead at the time of his injury Ohio went on to lose the game. Although he was able to heal up in time, to paly the next game and all others.

Two years ago, Miller missed some game time after falling into the equipment case on the side-line. Later in the same game against Michigan, he hyper extended his knee. A few games later and he was again in the wars. Hit hard by Purdue’s Josh Johnson, he missed the rest of that game.

The injury suffered by Miller leaves Ohio in a tough spot. They will likely be forced to field redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett in his place. Since moving from Wichita Falls in Texas he has been heavily involved during live reps and competitive drills in practice. Third string QB Cardale Jones will likely move into the backup spot during his sophomore year.
