2015 USC Preview

Predicted to start the season somewhere within the top 10, returning coach Steve Sarkisian has been compiling a team of return stars like quarterback Cody Kessler along with signing some of the truly elite players the west coast has to offer.

After losing two pivotal games last season (2014), all eyes will be on the late-game coaching and strategizing this year. in order to succeed the Trojans will have to become more consistent within the fourth quarter if they want to be within Pac-12 title contention.

After a slew of changes within the team throughout 2014, USC couldn’t be in a better place for morale. These players have been showing more confidence and less confusion than the previous season, how will this impact the teams season? The Trojans have won 19 matches over the last two years, with 5 of 8 losses coming by less than a touchdown.

USC will look to take the things that went well in 2014 fine-tuning them while integrating another blue-chip class of recruits. While there are problems both on the attack and defence, the Trojans main concern seems to come with their line development, Defensive improvements and finishing games.

What you need to know about the offence:

  • 8 Starters are back including Cody Kessler
  • Adoree Jackson, the top flight quarterback will again serve as a wildcard to be used at Sark’s direction.

What you need to know about the defence:

  • The team has lost its Lineman Leonard Williams, this means a fellow lineman will have to step up and become a regular presence in opposing backfields. If this isn’t the case, we can expect more blitzes from Justin Wilcox, which would help turn multi-faceted LB Su’a Cravens into on the nations best-known defenders.

This season will be a success if USC becomes a better finisher. by looking at the last season their biggest flaw was their inability to capture the 4th quarter. If the team are able to make adjustments and fix there issues the Trojans could see themselves as serious championship contenders.
