Boise State Win 2014 Fiesta Bowl

Boise State won the 2014 Fiesta Bowl Championship in a thriller against 10th ranked Arizona State on New Years Eve. The game took place at University of Phoenix Stadium and finished 38-30 in ‘The Broncos’ favour. This is Boise States third Fiesta Bowl win after previously trick playing its way past Oklahoma in 2007 and knocking off previously unbeaten TCU to finish 14-0 in 2010.

The Broncos have proven themselves to a great team, despite pre-season anxiety after long-time coach Chris Petersen left for Washington. Bryan Harisin took the helm and has performed admirably in the hot seat.

Sophmore wide receiver Thomas Sperbeck was one of the sides most valuable players with 12 catches and 199 yards. Linebacker Tanner Vallejo was just as key to victory with 14 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Further up the field Jay Ajayi ran for 134 yards and three touchdowns.

The game looked something of a mismatch in the opening 10 minutes. A 21-0 lead was quickly opened up after some impressive plays from the Broncos.

However, the Wildcats bounced back and rallied impressively. Unfortunately, is wasn’t enough and they fell to defeat. Despite cutting the lead to just eight points, Arizona failed to convert the final two drives.
