Bob Arum Plans To Make Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Winner Of Haney-Kambosos 2

Bob Arum is hoping to make Vasyl Lomachenko vs. the winner of Devin Haney vs. George Kambosos.

Lomachenko is making his return to the ring on October 29 as he faces Jamaine Ortiz from the Hulu Theater in New York City. Haney and Kambosos, meanwhile, will have their rematch on October 16 at Rod Laver Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

Given that they are fighting so close together, Arum believes it makes perfect sense to have the winners face each other.

“Vasiliy has arrived in the United States with his entire family. He’s set up training in the Los Angeles area. He will have his first fight back on October 29,” Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum stated while otherwise promoting the upcoming Haney-Kambosos rematch during a recent press conference (h/t BoxingScene). “I look forward to matching the winner of Haney and Kambosos with Lomachenko in the first quarter of next year.”

If it is Lomachenko and Haney get their hand raised it would be a massive fight and would be a big test for Haney to see how good he really is. It would also give Lomachenko the chance to reclaim the belts he lost when he dropped a decision to Teofimo Lopez.

Devin Haney has also expressed interest in the fight against Vasyl Lomachenko for his legacy and now it appears he just needs to beat Kambosos Jr. to secure the fight.

“The two I’d be interested in is Loma and Tank,” Haney said in an interview with Tha Boxing Voice. “Those fights are the ones that interest me the most. But I’ll fight anyone. I’m a true fighter… Those fights interest me the most but we can’t always make those fights happen. It’s still a business and I understand that. We just gotta see what my team can come up with and see what’s realistic.”
