Chris Eubank Jr silenced the doubters in style

Chris Eubank Jr defeated Conor Benn via unanimous decision last night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – and in doing so, he proved once and for all that he is an absolute warrior.

With his father by his side (in a moment that proves why a bit of pro wrestling showmanship is needed in boxing and MMA), Chris Eubank Jr showcased the best of himself in the midst of an incredible amount of doubt. No, he didn’t have it all his own way, but as Chris said, Conor was able to bring that dog out of him in ways that he probably couldn’t have imagined.

Chris Eubank Jr wanted to make it known that he was the better fighter and he did that, and we truly believe he deserves all the credit in the world for that effort.

Chris Eubank Jr – what’s next?

We aren’t suggesting that everything he did in the lead-up to this contest was right, but he did have to endure a lot of scrutiny. From the weight issues to questions about relationships with his father to the fact that Conor Benn wasn’t really punished for his doping violation a few years back, it felt like the odds were stacked against him.

Now, the real fun begins, as we try and figure out what the next move will be. The obvious answer is a rematch, given that there’s already a clause in the contract for that to happen. Alas, given the ambitious nature of Chris Eubank Jr, we wouldn’t put it past him pushing for an even bigger encounter – perhaps against Canelo Alvarez.

For now, we’re just happy that this fight lived up to the hype – and then some. It was everything we all wanted to see and more, and if they run it back, how can anyone complain?
