Claressa Shields Open To Rematching Savannah Marshall Again, Vows To KO Her If They Do
Claressa Shields doesn’t think she needs to fight Savannah Marshall again but is open to it.
Shields and Marshall fought on October 15 in Londonย with Shields winning a clear-cut decision, as even Marshall admitted she lost. Yet, she has been open saying she wants a rematch and Shields says if the fans want it, she would take it, as long as it’s in America.
โIf thatโs what the fans want, we can make it happen,โ Shields told BoxingScene.com. โBut I already told her and whoever else that I would like to fight her in the USA. Iโve already done my part and come over and fought in front of 20,000 of your fans. Now I think itโs only fair that she comes to America to have to fight against me. I would be all for the fight again.โ
With Claressa Shields thinking she won clearly, she doesn’t think a rematch is needed. But, if the fight does get made, Shields is confident she won’t only just win this time but will KO Marshall.
โDo I think that the fight calls for a rematch? Absolutely not,โ Shields said. โYou know, she was supposed to knock me out and they built this fight off of an amateur win. The only thing Savannah Marshall has going for her is that sheโs the bigger girl. But other than that, Iโm more experienced, Iโm more skilled. I believe that Iโm the bigger puncher out of me and her. Iโll beat her again easily, and probably knock her out.
โBut if thatโs the fight that the fans want, Iโll just fight whoever the fans think is the best,” Shields continued. “But Iโve got plans at 154, plans at 175 and we even have some plans at 147, if we can get those fights. And who knows what Savannah will do? I think after the loss she may wanna retire because she had it all. She was thinking about retirement already. Now that sheโs lost, she still may be considering it.โ
As of right now, there is no word on who Claressa Shields will fight and whether or not it will be Savannah Marshall.
