Dana White Scolds Oscar De La Hoya’s Return To Boxing: ‘This S**t Is Getting Silly’

Dana White

UFC president, Dana White has made it known he doesn’t like Oscar De La Hoya, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he doesn’t like the idea of De La Hoya boxing again.

At the Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren press conference, De La Hoya announced his return to boxing this summer. Triller executive, Ryan Kavanaugh, said the plan was for him to face a big name from the UFC. Yet, if that fighter needs White permission, it’s likely it won’t be granted as White doesn’t like De La Hoya one bit.

“To box De La Hoya? Come on guys, this sh-t is getting silly. You guys just want to ask me silly questions. You have got a 50-year-old guy f–king boxing, and you guys are actually talking about it and covering press conferences? Come on, come on you guys,” White said (via boxingscene).

Although White and De La Hoya have a mixed past, he also doesn’t like the idea of older men boxing as he was skeptical of Mike Tyson boxing again.

“Somebody asked me at a press conference about it and I said ‘I don’t like it, I don’t want them to do it, this and that…’ Then he called me and was like: ‘Listen man, we’ve been friends for a long time but I’m a grown ass man, if I wanna fight I’m gonna f–king fight! Don’t be f–king negative about my fight.’ And I said ‘you know what, you’re right. You won’t hear a f–king peep out of me again.’ Then when I watched the fight I thought he looked really f–king good,” White said.

Oscar De La Hoya has not boxed since 2008 when he lost to Manny Pacquiao. He ended his career 3-4 in his last seven but did fight elite competition including Floyd Mayweather.
