Daniel Dubois’ Coach Doesn’t Think Anthony Joshua Should Try For Rematch
Daniel Dubois’ coach, Kieran Farrell doesn’t think Anthony Joshua should try for the rematch with Dubois.
Dubois scored a stunning upset KO win over Joshua at Wembley Stadium. Since then, Joshua has talked about a potential rematch with Dubois, but Farrell says if he was advising Joshua he wouldn’t advise him to take the rematch.
โIf I was advising Joshua, I wouldnโt be telling him to jump back in with Daniel Dubois โ a young, hungry, 27-year-old lion,โ Farrell said to BoxingScene. โWhat I see day in, day out, I know what he is capable of, and Joshua does too now. If Daniel has somebody hurt, they ainโt going to see the final bell. Heโs a devastating puncher and Iโm only talking facts here. Heโs like a modern-day Mike Tyson. But a bigger version.ย
โThere are other fights there for Joshua. He can do the [Deontay] Wilder fight. That would be a good fight between two massive names who both need a big win right now. A win for either of them in that fight would give them a load of confidence. Theyโve been linked together for a long time and are both now coming off defeats. It would make sense to do that fight,” Farrell added.
Kieran Farrell believes Daniel Dubois is just a bad matchup for Anthony Joshua which is why he thinks the Brit shouldn’t take the rematch. Farrell was also pleased with Dubois’ performance as he said his fighter boxed perfectly.
โWhen we then caught him with a back hand over the top in the first round, and he went down, I was like, โWow, this is mentalโ. Everyone thought Daniel was going to be the one getting caught by the back hand and itโs turned out Joshua is getting caught with it. It was a nice moment really. We couldnโt have got off to a better start. Now we just had to keep it going and force the finish โ and we did it. Daniel boxed perfectly.โ
Daniel Dubois is 22-2 as a pro and riding a two-fight winning streak.
