Dillian Whyte Calls For Tyson Fury Rematch, Claims He Hurt His Foot During The Fight
Dillian Whyte is hoping to fight Tyson Fury again.
Whyte suffered a sixth-round TKO loss to Fury back in April and is set to return to the ring on Saturday against Jermaine Franklin. The hope for Whyte is to get back into the win column in a big way and prove he is still a title contender.
โYou know, I want to get back into title contention and obviously get a rematch with Fury at some point,โ Whyte said in a video posted on Matchroom Boxing’s YouTube channel.
Although Fury controlled the fight for as long as it lasted, Whyte is still hoping to get another fight with Fury. Whyte says he injured his foot during the fight which played a role in the loss. He also wasn’t happy with the stoppage which is why he wants to get the fight back.
โI got hit with a good shot,โ Whyte said. โItโs boxing, you get hurt. Iโve been down in fights before and gotten back up. He hit me with a good shot, pushed me over, and when he pushed me over I ended up f—ing twisting two ligaments in my foot, which obviously I had to take some time off. Thatโs why I havenโt fought since.
โSo you know obviously the Boxing Board (BBBofC) didnโt follow their rules because when you go down after the bell, theyโre allowed to stop the fight, theyโre allowed to send you to the corner and send a doctor to intervene, if you beat the ten count,” Whyte continued. “They didnโt do that. They just stopped the fight, which was a massive breach [of protocol]. It is what it is. Itโs boxing. These things happen. I choose to move on.โ
Dillian Whyte is now 27-3 and one No Contest and before the loss to Fury, he beat Alexander Povetkin in the rematch after losing by TKO in the first fight.
