Eddie Hean Picks Jake Paul To Beat Anderson Silva
Eddie Hearn believes Jake Paul will pull off the upset and defeat Anderson Silva on October 29.
Paul is set to face the former UFC middleweight champion and one of the best strikers in MMA history. However, Silva is 47-years-old, but he still beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in 2021 showing he still has what it takes to compete in boxing.
Yet, for Hearn, he thinks Paul doesn’t get the respect he deserves and is better than many think.
โI donโt know enough about Anderson Silva โ Anderson is [47], but he can box a bit by the sound of things,โ Hearn said of the Oct. 29 boxing match onย The MMA Hour. โI just think that Jakeโs been a bit unlucky, because he was trying to fight Tommy Fury, he was trying to fight Hasim Rahman Jr., and that would have actually given him the ability to say, โActually, you have to respect me now as a boxer.
“To defeat Anderson Silva, while boxing is still a very impressive part of his repertoire, heโs still not a boxer, and heโs 47 years of age. But heโs a tough guy, he has a huge profile, he can box, and I think heโll be competitive. I donโt think he beats Jake, because I think Jake is young, and I think he can punch a bit, and Iโm intrigued to watch, and I like what Jakeโs doing. Itโs kind of him against the world.โ
Eddie Hearn, meanwhile, thinks Jake Paul doesn’t get the respect because he is a former YouTuber, but the Matchroom exec believes Paul could be a lot of pro boxers.
โNo oneโs trying to do him any favors in boxing,โ Hearn said. โItโs not โYouTube boxingโ any more, as far as Iโm concerned. … Good luck to Jake. I would like to see him come through after this to actually fight some boxers, because I think he can beat some boxers, and his credibility would definitely rise in the sport.โ
Do you think Jake Paul will beat Anderson Silva?
