Gervonta Davis’ fans should get on board with boxing decisions, says Andre Ward

Tank Davis Opens As Early BEtting Favorite Over Jake Paul

Boxing legend Andre Ward believes Gervonta Davis‘ fans should get on board with his decision making, even when it comes to the Jake Paul fight.

Later this year, Gervonta Davis will take on the challenge of battling Jake Paul in an exhibition boxing match. The size difference between the two men has been the primary talking point, and understandably so given the gulf we saw during their recent press conference altercation.

Still, the fact that Gervonta Davis is going down this route as opposed to taking on a tougher challenge is something that’s rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. While he could take on some interesting tests, he’s instead opting for a big payday and a clash with someone that many boxing fans believe is killing the sport.

In a recent podcast, Andre Ward gave his thoughts on the Gervonta Davis debate.

Andre Ward’s view on Gervonta Davis

“Who will win? Who really cares? [I] don’t appear to,” said Tank Davis to the media when asked about his fight with Paul.

“If his main focus is money, and his main focus is getting out of boxing without getting hurt and retiring on his own terms, shouldn’t his fanbase get on board with that if that’s not even his goal? How can we hold him to something like that if he doesn’t hold himself to that?” said boxing commentator Andre Ward about Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis to ATSF about Tank Davis.

‘Tank’ has already proven what he can do in the ring on multiple occasions. While he’s also been involved in plenty of controversies outside of it, that doesn’t seem to have harmed his image too much with his fanbase. As we look ahead to the future, though, it’s undetermined how the Paul fight will impact that.
