Jake Paul Claims Nate Diaz, Not Tommy Fury Is His Hardest Opponent

Jake Paul, Tommy Fury

Jake Paul believes Nate Diaz is the toughest opponent he has fought.

Paul returned to the win column on Saturday night in Dallas, Texas as he picked up a one-sided decision win over the former UFC fighter. It was Paul’s first fight since he lost to Tommy Fury by decision.

Although Paul lost to Fury, he says after being in the ring with Diaz, he knows the Stockton native is the toughest opponent he’s fought.

“I was just having fun and that was the missing ingredient in my last fight, now I am having fun back on that side of things and Nate was the toughest opponent I’ve fought to date,” Paul stated (h/t BoxingScene). “One thing I took from it was the confidence I can do 10 rounds with non-stop power-punching, that’s great experience. Just getting more and more comfortable in the ring, learning to box and slow things down. I knew he was trying to take brakes so I would bounce on him when he would do that.”

In the fight, Jake Paul was tested as he went 10 rounds against Nate Diaz who is known for his superior cardio. However, Paul says he fought smart and didn’t get tired as he thought which gives him confidence going into his next fight.

“My motor was running hot and I was punching him hard and hard and hard, and he wasn’t going down,” Paul said. “He was standing there. So I didn’t want to burn out and let him catch a win and come back with something. I was being patient, being smart, and was looking for the kill but at the end of the day he withstood a bunch of big, big, big punches.”

Currently, Jake Paul does not have his next fight booked, but perhaps he faces the winner of KSI vs. Tommy Fury which takes place in October.
