Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis set to happen in an exhibition fight

Jake Paul

Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis is reportedly set to take place later this year in a huge exhibition boxing match.

Jake Paul was once considered to be a joke in the world of boxing. However, between some of his own blockbuster fights and the way he’s been able to promote and grow women’s boxing, we’d say he’s proven a lot of people wrong. Recently, we were all told that he was negotiating to take on Anthony Joshua in what would’ve been an absolutely mammoth match-up.

As it turns out, though, we’ve been swerved. The report from Mike Coppinger goes into more detail, but for now, Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua will not be happening as a result of network issues.

Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis set to happen

“Jake Paul will face Gervonta Davis on Nov. 15 at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena in an exhibition on Netflix, sources confirm to @ringmagazine . Talks for Paul to face Anthony Joshua collapsed over network issues. Paul’s last fight took place at 200 pounds while Davis is a champion at 135.”

Coppinger then rectified the reported date.

“Event will take place on Friday, Nov. 14 rather than the traditional Saturday for boxing”

“As usual, all efforts will be made to call this event anything but an exhibition – similar to Tyson-Paul – but make no mistake that is what it will be in nature no matter what the Georgia commission officially decides. They’ll be vastly different weights, after all.”

So, as of this writing, Paul vs Davis is an actual boxing match that is going to happen. Whether or not it’s treated like an exhibition on the night, of course, remains to be seen, but we all know that Jake is a smart promoter – and he knows the risk that he faces here if it’s an actual fight.
