Katie Taylor ‘Absolutely’ Wants To Have Rematch With Amanda Serrano, But This Time In Ireland

Katie Taylor

Katie Taylor is interested in having a rematch against Amanda Serrano.

Taylor and Serrano became the first female boxing main event to headline Madison Square Garden as it was a massive fight for boxing and women’s boxing. It was an intriguing matchup and it exceeded expectations as it was a phenomenal fight but it was Taylor edging out a split decision and after the win, she says she would like a rematch and would love to have it in Ireland.

“We all want to see the best versus the best. A rematch would be absolutely phenomenal,” Taylor said in her press conference after the fight. “If it was in Dublin we could sell out Croke Park, 90,000 people, that would be unbelievable. We’ve seen something special here tonight — imagine fighting in front of 80,000 or 90,000 people in Croke Park. Absolutely, that can happen.”

After the fight, Amanda Serrano and her promoter Jake Paul both expressed interest in running it back. Eddie Hearn, the promoter of Katie Taylor says he also has an interest in making the rematch happen and MSG has already reached out to have the rematch there.

“It was one of the best fights of all time and one of the best fights at Madison Square Garden,” said Eddie Hearn to iFL TV about the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano fight last Saturday night.’If you want to do the second one, please do it here,’” said Hearn on what the people told him from Madison Square Garden. She [Taylor] fought so well in the first three rounds, and then in the fourth, she decided to sit and potshot in the corner. I don’t know what she was doing. She didn’t get stopped, but she was in trouble.

“The fifth was tough as well, but she came back in the sixth. How she won the sixth, seventh, the tenth was close. She was incredible. Massive respect to Amanda Serrano; it was a close fight. I had Katie winning 6-4, but it could have been a draw,” Hearn added. “I thought Katie deserved it but delighted to get the decision,” said Hearn. “He [promoter Jake Paul] said he thought Amanda was robbed, but I thought we both had it 3-3, 4-4, and then Katie pulled away. I felt Katie nicked it, but I wasn’t sure we’d get it, to be honest with you. Obviously, he [Jake Paul] wants to run the fight back, and we’d definitely be looking at it.”
