Katie Taylor can relax ahead of Amanda Serrano trilogy – her legacy is secured

Amanda Serrano vs Katie Taylor

Later this week, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will square off for the third – and almost certainly – final time as their trilogy comes to a close.

This is easily the biggest rivalry we’ve seen in women’s boxing over the course of the last decade or so, and you could certainly make the argument that it extends far beyond that. In the first two meetings, these women went to war and really put it all on the line in the name of securing a victory – with both wins going to Katie Taylor.

Some will dispute whether or not that was the right call but either way, Katie Taylor holds the bragging rights with a 2-0 lead. While you could argue it would be damaging for her to lose the third fight, she’s 39 years of age, and her legacy at the elite level has already been secured.

Katie Taylor knows what to do

We feel like there’s a decent chance Amanda Serrano will throw even more caution to the wind than she usually does here. She knows that if it goes to the scorecards, there’s an excellent chance she isn’t going to get the win – which is why she needs to be willing to go out there and take a few risks.

Katie Taylor, meanwhile, doesn’t need to do that whatsoever. She can play a defensive game and wait for her openings, knowing that even if she suffers defeat, she’ll still be the one with a 2-1 series lead. Of course, we’re talking about one of the greatest to ever do it, and she’ll want to put on a show for the masses.

Regardless of whether or not KT makes it 3-0, she’s already proven herself in as many ways as a boxer can – which the makes the dynamic of this fight very interesting.
