Mike Tyson Recalls Street Fighting Stories From When He Was Nine

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson has shared some wild street fighting stories from when he was a kid.

Tyson is the former undisputed heavyweight champion and he says he has been boxing since he was nine. He also revealed he was feared on the streets and was a KO artist and was street fighting for money.

“All the time [I was street fighting], for money, yes,” Tyson said at a speaking event hosted by Valuetainment (via TalkSport). “I must’ve had like three or four fights a day. For money or I was robbing somebody.”

There’s no doubt Tyson would be feared on the streets as he was feared in the ring for his legit one-punch KO power. He also says due to his street fighting, gangs wanted him to hang out with them so he could be support, he also says at 12 he was then fighting kids and beat them up and he would then beat up their dad.

“I’m talking about from like age nine, ten,” Tyson said. “This stuff just came natural, that’s what I was made to do. All of the tough guys and the criminal guys wanted to hang out with me. They put me in their gang. I was this size at 12 years old, I was 200lbs at 12-years-old. Listen, I was fighting the kid, then I was fighting their fathers. I’m serious. I might’ve hit them too hard, they were crying, went home and got their father. Then I would fight the father. My right hand to God, I’m telling the truth.”

Tyson would then go on to become one of the best heavyweights of all time. He did return to the ring last November in an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. and has talked about boxing again soon.
