Oscar Da La Hoya Returns To Boxing, Will Headline July 3 PPV Event

Oscar Da La Hoya is one of a select few who can truly count themselves as a member of boxings elite. After an extended layoff, he has now announced he will be returning to the boxing ring in 2021.

De La Hoya has not fought since 2008, where he was stopped by a fellow all time great in Manny Pacquiao. Since then he has continuously teased a potential comeback. But it was at the Jake Paul vs Ben Askren pre fight press conference that De La Hoya finally made the announcement.

โ€œJuly 3, Iโ€™m making my comeback,โ€ De La Hoya announced to all those in attendance. This was followed by a literal mic drop before he dramatically strode off stage.

There have been no following details revealed yet, with the venue and opponent still unknown. However, the fight will be PPV main event for boxing promotion Triller, who are also running the coming Askren vs Paul card.

De La Hoya has already had one potential opponent call him out on Twitter, as former UFC fighter Dan Hardy made it known that he would be interested in a matchup with the former six belt boxing champion.

De La Hoya amassed a 39-6 record over the course of his 16-year career, having KO’d 30 of his opponents. During his impressive run, he would fight at junior lightweight, lightweight, junior welterweight, welterweight, junior middleweight and middleweight.

De La Hoya has also previously revealed he would be interested in a matchup with Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. De La Hoya previously fought Mayweather back in 2007, picking up a decision loss to the undefeated great.
