Regis Prograis Says Jack Catterall Is Not The Best Person He’s Fought
Regis Prograis doesn’t think Jack Catterall is the best person he has fought.
Prograis said Catterall was better than he thought, but is not the best person he’s fought. But, he says Catterall is awkward to hit and made it hard for him to have success.
โEarly on, I boxed him and it was easy with my jab. I was boxing him all around the ring. The first six rounds, it was easy,โ said Regis Prograis to Fight Hub TV (via BoxingNews24). โThen my coach told me, โYou need to step it up. Be a little more busy.โ Thatโs when I got caught. Once that happened, the fight kind of shifted. My coach told me, โWe think youโre up, but weโre over here in the UK, and I think you might have to do something else.'”
Ultimately, despite being dropped and losing a decision, Regis Prograis stands by the fact that Jack Catterall is not the best person he has fought.
โThey didnโt expect me to box him. Heโs not the best I faced. Letโs put it this way,โ said Prograis. โHeโs better than I thought. You got to the UK, and you have a UK fighter; you have to damn near knock him out. You canโt win a decision. My coach told me, โYou got to be busier.โ I thought I could knock him out. The one-two, he was really good at slipping that. I couldnโt get to him.โ
Ultimately, Regis Prograis says Devin Haney is still the best person he has ever fought and is much better than Catterall.
โHeโs a better fighter than I thought he was because heโs very awkward,โ said Prograis. โNah, I think Devin has more tools,โ said Prograis when asked if Catterall is better than Haney. โI would say I was a better fighter on Saturday night than I was with Devin. The Devin fight, it wasnโt me. โFor this fight, I was more focused and more present. I canโt say who was better. They have two different styles. I can say Devin has more tools. Jack doesnโt have a good jab. He doesnโt have a good right hand.”
With the loss to Catterall, Prograis is 29-3 as a pro and coming off back-to-back losses to Catterall and Haney.
