Rolly Romero questions Devin Haney and canelo Alvarez after dull fights

Rolly Romero

Following on from his win over Ryan Garcia last week, Rolly Romero has spoken out about boxers not quite living up to the hype with their performances.

In the main event of the Times Square card, Rolly Romero shocked the world by defeating Ryan Garcia – but he didn’t shock himself. In addition to dropping ‘King’ early in the fight, he was able to stay disciplined, stay focused, and carve out the victory that he needed. Now, it’s time for him to look ahead to the future and see what else he could potentially achieve.

In a recent interview, Rolly Romero wasn’t afraid to open up and give his thoughts on a few of his rivals – and boxing as a whole.

Rolly Romero’s view on Devin Haney, Canelo Alvarez and more

“I’ll tell you this. Ryan beats Devin again. Ryan goes on a winning streak. You can just tell that Ryan goes on a winning streak, because Ryan is a tremendous fighter. Those were two horrible [fights],” said Rolly about Devin Haney’s fight against Jose Ramirez last Friday, and Canelo Alvarez’s clash against William Scull last Saturday in Riyadh.

“I couldn’t even watch the Devin fight. I was warming up in back. I didn’t want to fall asleep on the way to the arena. These guys don’t have the will to win decisively because they already have fights lined up after,” said Rolly.

“That’s the thing. When you’re overpaying fighters, telling them that ‘No matter what happens, whether you win or lose, you’re still going to fight.’ You just took away their whole will to win. They’re like, ‘Okay, I’m not going to be gritty. They’re doing it for a check,” said Romero.
