Teofimo Lopez Says Vasiliy Lomachenko Is In The Past, Will Knock Him Out In Rematch

Vasiliy Lomachenko is in the past for Teofimo Lopez.

Lopez defends his lightweight titles against mandatory challenger George Kambosos Jr. on June 19th.

Of course, he became the unified champion when he outpointed Lomachenko in a close matchup back in October.

However, Lomachenko — who had a shoulder injury going into the fight — remains adamant that it should have been a draw.

While it was a close fight, most would still agree that Lopez did enough to come away with the victory, and he could only laugh at Lomachenko’s claims.

“I can just laugh about it that’s all,” Lopez said during a press conference (via Boxing Insider). “Lomachenko is in the past now. At the end of the day, I took his heart. Even if we were to fight again, I’ll knock him out.”

Despite the animosity the pair shared going into the fight and even now, Lopez did credit the Ukrainian with one thing.

“Fighting that caliber of fighter has elevated me to a whole other level,” Lopez said.

As for Lomachenko’s excuses? Lopez believes it’s simply a new experience for Lomachenko who suffered just his second professional defeat against him.

“With Lomachenko, he’s just somebody that took an ass whopping and he doesn’t know how to handle it right,” Lopez added.

What do you think of Lopez’s remarks?
