Terence Crawford Blames The ‘Business Of Boxing’ For Halting Errol Spence Jr. Fight From Happening
Terence Crawford has continued to open up on why the Errol Spence Jr. fight never took place.
Crawford vs. Spence Jr. is one of – if not the biggest fight to make in boxing. With that, fans have been clamoring to see it and it appeared it was getting close to happening but it won’t happen soon as Crawford blames the business of boxing for ruining the fight.
โIt is what it is โ Iโm moving forward with my career,โ Crawford told Ariel Helwani onย The MMA Hour. โMe and Errol, if that fight happens, it will happen next year. I just donโt like the fact that a lot of people are blaming me for trying to make the fight. Thatโs about it. But my main focus is not on Errol right now. My main focus is on Daron Avanesyan… I just blame the business of boxing. I donโt blame myself for [even] one portion of the fight not being made. … I felt like I agreed to everything that I needed to agree to. I feel like Iโve done everything Iโm supposed to do as an independent fighter to get that fight made. But thereโs only so much I can do.โ
Terence Crawford has made it clear he thinks both he and Errol Spence Jr. wanted the fight to happen so won’t put the blame on them. Even with that, Crawford hopes the fight will happen in 2023.
โHopefully [it will happen],โ he said. โI canโt say if itโs true or false. The only thing I can say is, if you were to ask me, โDoes Terence Crawford want to fight Errol Spence?โ I would say true. But I canโt say if a fight is true or false, if it happens or not. Anything can happen in todayโs society.โ
Do you think we will ever see Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr.?
