Terence crawford warned about weight issues by strength coach
Strength and conditioning coach Rob Acosta has issued a warning to Terence Crawford about his change in weight ahead of his proposed showdown with Canelo Alvarez.
As we know, Terence Crawford is lining himself up for a major collision with Canelo Alvarez that is set to take place later this year. We also know that he’ll likely have to bulk up a fair bit in order to meet the necessary weight requirement, which has been a source of concern for some who wonder whether or not he’ll be able to safely execute that.
For Canelo, he will have to adjust his weight too – but Terence Crawford is where the worry lies for a lot of experts. Recently, the aforementioned Rob Acosta weighed in on the topic.
A warning for Terence Crawford
โThe last two weeks of very camp is always the most critical time because thatโs when the most dumbest things can go wrong,โ said Acosta. โItโs super hard to come from 154 all the way to 168 within a specific timeframe and perform as if you were at 140, 147, and 154. We already seen what happened when he went from 147 to 154. It wasnโt a bad performance.
โCrawford took some good shots. He took them well. What do you think is going to happen at 168? Canelo has been hit by GGG, one of the hardest punchers in boxing. Do you mean to tell me that Crawford is just going to go up and clean him out? I donโt see it happening.
โWhat is he [Crawford] going to rehydrate to? 175? You walk around at that weight. Letโs see what happens when you go in there with a top competitor like Canelo,โ said Acosta.
