Triller Beats DAZN, ESPN For Rights To Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. Fight

Lopez

Teofimo Lopez’s next fight will be on the Triller platform.

Lopez — the current unified lightweight champion — is set to defend his titles against IBF mandatory challenger George Kambosos.

However, Lopez and his promoter Top Rank — which is broadcast on ESPN — disagreed on the contract offer with the latter reportedly offering $1.25 million to the lightweight king.

That allowed other promotions and networks to swoop in and potentially purchase the rights to the fight.

Eddie Hearn‘s Matchroom Boxing, which is broadcast on DAZN, was among them but in the end, it was streaming platform Triller who won the purse bid with an offer of $6.02 million.

Matchroom Boxing offered $3.51 million while Top Rank moved their offer up to $2.32 million.

It’s a big catch for Triller who notably came on to the boxing scene when they broadcast the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. fight back in November.

Their next event will be the boxing match between YouTuber Jake Paul and former UFC welterweight Ben Askren which takes place April 17.

And with the Lopez fight now in the bag, they are quietly becoming a household name in the boxing world.

What do you make of Triller winning the rights for the Lopez fight?
