Oleksandr Usyk can stop Daniel Dubois again, says Johnny Nelson

Oleksandr Usyk, Daniel Dubois

British boxing legend Johnny Nelson believes that Oleksandr Usyk has what it takes to finish Daniel Dubois for the second time.

On July 19, Oleksandr Usyk will go head to head with Daniel Dubois for the second time in a blockbuster showdown at Wembley Stadium. In their first meeting, Usyk was able to secure the finish – but Dubois is a much-changed fighter since that night. In fact, many believe that he stands a much better chance of getting his hand raised this time around.

Dubois is coming off the back of a huge win over Anthony Joshua, whereas Oleksandr Usyk was twice able to defeat Tyson Fury. The stars are aligning for this to be one of the biggest fights of the year, and it’ll give us an interesting insight into what the future of the heavyweight division could look like.

In a recent interview, Johnny Nelson gave his thoughts on Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois 2.

Johnny Nelson backs Oleksandr Usyk

“I do believe Usyk could possibly stop Daniel, and it won’t be with one shot. It’ll be an accumulation of simple pressure on Daniel,” said Johnny Nelson to Ring Magazine, predicting a victory for Oleksandr Usyk in his rematch with Daniel Dubois on July 19th.

“Daniel is the stronger of the two, but Usyk has been in with a lot of people who were stronger, but he’s been able to negate what advantages they had,” said Nelson. “Knowledge is power. Usyk knows what Dubois is about. Usyk has shown that he can think and change the direction of a fight. He proved that in the [previous] fight [against Dubois in 2023].”

“He knew how to milk the situation. He knew how to play the game, find himself a little time, and come back and beat Daniel up,” said Nelson.
