Andy Ruiz Jr. Confident He’ll KO Deontay Wilder: ‘He’s Gonna Go Down’

Andy Ruiz Jr. believes he will KO Deontay Wilder when they fight.

Ruiz Jr. vs. Wilder was ordered by the WBC with the winner set to face Tyson Fury. It’s a fight that both men have called for, for quite some time and when they do fight, Ruiz Jr. believes the difference will be the fact that he can take a punch, while he thinks Wilder won’t be able to take his power.

β€œFor me, I feel like I can take a punch. I’m not saying that [Wilder] doesn’t hit hard or nothing,” Ruiz Jr. told Boxing Social. β€œI’m gonna get in, I’m gonna throw my combinations, I’m gonna be fast, explosive, and I throw that right hand, in his temple, and he’s gonna go down … We’re right here trying to stay busy and trying to stay focused.”

This is also not the first time Andy Ruiz Jr. has said he would KO Deontay Wilder. He also believes the size will actually benefit him as he thinks Wilder will have a hard time dealing with his speed and fighting someone so much shorter.

β€œI’m really confident,” Ruiz Jr. recentlyΒ said in a separate interview. β€œNobody can really match my style. Once they get inside that ring, I’m like a different person. I feel the abilities that I have, the power, the quickness, the movement, and me being short is an advantage … It’s harder for the taller guys to fight shorter guys that move around and that are fast. I’m gonna win [against Wilder].”

Ruiz Jr. enters the fight on a two-fight win streak and is coming off a decision win over Luis Ortiz back in September. Prior to that, he beat Chris Arreola by decision in his first fight since the decision loss to Anthony Joshua to lose his heavyweight titles.
