Anthony Joshua Believes He Could Bring Tyson Fury Out Of Retirement

Anthony Joshua thinks he will be the one that will lure Tyson Fury out of retirement.

After Fury TKO’d Dillian Whyte he confirmed he would be retiring from boxing. In the lead-up to the bout, he said he would retire but many didn’t believe him. According to Joshua, he thinks if he defeats Oleksandr Usyk and becomes the champ again, he will lure Fury out of retirement as it would be a massive fight in the UK.

“If Fury was in the boxing arena, was to come out of retirement and honor the gentleman’s agreement, there’s a lot of money to be made,” Joshua said (via BoxingScene). “First and foremost, I have a pound-for-pound fighter on my list in Usyk, who’s a tough competitor for sure.

“People say I only focus on what’s in front of me, which is a good way to be, but also I want to look at what the bigger picture holds so I can steamroll through, I have to, so I can get to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow,” Joshua continued. “So, for sure, I feel like retirement doesn’t mean that you’ve completely given up and you’re on the beach clicking your phone drinking a bottle of Corona. I feel he’s still ticking over and he’ll come back if the right fight is presented to him.”

At this time, it is uncertain if Tyson Fury will box again. His promoter Bob Arum has said there are massive fights for him and he wants to sit down with him. If Joshua wins, perhaps that would be the big fight that does bring Fury out of retirement.

In order for that to happen, Anthony Joshua will need to beat Usyk in the rematch which is easier said than done after how the first fight played out.
