Callum Smith Confident He’s The Best In The World At Super-Middleweight Ahead Of Canelo Alvarez Fight

Callum Smith believes he’s the best super-middleweight on the planet and plans to prove that to Canelo Alvarez.

On December 19, Smith is set to defend his WBA (Super) and The Ring super-middleweight titles against Alvarez in a very intriguing matchup. Alvarez fought at super-middleweight when he defeated Rocky Fielding in 2018 and has since even moved up to light heavyweight to win titles there.

When they eventually fight in December, it will be Smith’s biggest fight of his career and he is thankful the deal got done.

“I thought that couldn’t be me when I saw it because I hadn’t agreed anything then. They made us an offer a few hours after he put that out but I wasn’t happy with it. Thankfully we agreed to the fight in the end but even after I was still checking his Twitter to make sure it was me,” Smith told Daily Mail (via Boxingscene).

Entering the fight, many believe Alvarez will walk through Smith as he does to most opponents. However, for Callum Smith, he knows he is the best in the world at super-middleweight and plans to prove that and show the world just how good he is.

“It depends on how you rate me. If you think I’m good you won’t be surprised. If you don rate me you’ll probably put this one up there. Canelo’s best days are at middle. At 168-pounds I beat anybody. I’m the best in the world at this weight,” Smith said.

Callum Smith enters this fight with a record fo 27-0 and holds notable wins over Fielding, Nieky Holzken, and John Ryder. However, he will have his hands full when he takes on one of the greatest of all-time in Canelo Alvarez.

Do you agree with Callum Smith that he is the best super-middleweight alive ahead of his bout against Canelo Alvarez?
