Canelo Alvarez admits that William Scull is dangerous
Canelo Alvarez has admitted that William Scull is a dangerous opponent for him as we get closer and closer to fight night.
On Saturday, May 3, Canelo Alvarez and William Scull will collide in a super middleweight title fight. The contest will go down in Riyadh, with the expectation being that the Mexican sensation will go on to fight Terence Crawford later this year. In the eyes of many, Scull is nothing more than a warm body – but the man himself will obviously reject that notion.
As it turns out, the same is true for Canelo Alvarez. He knows that Scull has the potential to cause him a whole lot of issues at the weekend and while he may still be the favorite, he noted in a recent interview that he is able to acknowledge how and why Scull could hurt him.
Canelo Alvarez examines what William Scull brings to the table
“There are always challenges. Just because he isn’t known doesn’t mean he isn’t a good fighter,” said Canelo Alvarez to DAZN Boxing.
“I know the type of fighter he is and what he will bring with his mentality right now to bring everything. He has everything to gain,” said Canelo about Scull. “So, that makes him even more dangerous. He knows how to use his reach.
“He’s quick, tall, strong, but as I say, it’s nothing new to me. I’ve fought against every style, every size, every type of strength in boxing, and I know it’ll be a tricky fight, especially in the early rounds. I’m someone who has to adapt to everything at this stage of my career,” said Canelo.
