Conor Benn reflects on Chris Eubank Jr fight and looks ahead to future
Conor Benn has reflected on his first fight against Chris Eubank Jr as the two rivals prepare to run it back in what promises to be an electric rematch.
For the longest time, Conor Benn has been seen as a controversial figure in the world of British boxing. However, following his incredible first fight with Chris Eubank Jr earlier this year, a lot of people changed their tune. Now, there’s a whole lot of excitement in the air about what he can achieve next in his career, with the rematch between these two rivals looming large.
Given the size difference between the two, many expected Conor Benn to struggle – but that wasn’t the case. He stood toe to toe with Eubank Jr and although he didn’t get his hand raised in victory, he certainly made it close, and he’s given people all the more reason to believe that things could be different the second time around.
There’s no guarantee of that, of course, but Conor Benn seems to be coming into the rematch with a different mentality. In a recent interview, he spoke candidly about what he’s learnt about himself.
Conor Benn discusses rematch
โA lot of people are going, โYouโre just cashing out. Youโre out of your depth.โ Heโs got a good resume in comparison to mine. I was a prospect/contender, and Iโve proved my worth at 160,โ said Conor Benn.
โSo, Iโm just excited to get back down to 147 after this fight and do more damage at the weight I should be fighting at,โ said Benn.
