CSAC Will Not Score, Announce Winner For Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr

We’re only four, or five days, depending on what day you’re reading this, away from this epic comeback of the legends exhibition bout between former multiple-time world champions Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.

This bout will go down at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, November 28, 2020.

Although the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) allowed the bout to go ahead, they will not be scoring it, and they will not be announcing a winner. Though this bout is an exhibition, that’s kind of strange, and unfortunate even.

The WBC however is going to score it, remotely, and they’ve given the pleasures of that duty to Christy Martin, Vinny Pazienza, and Chad Dawson, all three of which are former boxing champions.

This is pretty cool, we’ve got three former champions scoring two former champions.

The WBC previously announced the following: “Each round will be scored and announced to the public with scoring criteria taking into consideration.”

The Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) will be implemented for this fight, they however will not be testing for marijuana, which is also pretty awesome. Tyson’s known to indulge in it some these days, and honestly, it’s not something they should really test for anyway.

This bout will take place on pay-per-view, where you can purchase it on cable, satellite, or stream it on TysonOnThriller.com.

The co-main event features a cruiserweight bout between YouTuber Jake Paul and former NBA star Nate Robinson. That should be interesting to say the least.

It’s interesting seeing athletes from different backgrounds try combat sports. Many don’t care for the Paul’s too much, they did both take a massive short cut into this sport. But, Nate Robinson trying a hand at fighting after playing basketball since 2005, that might be a cool sight to see.

The first two fights on the night showcase former super-middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Badou Jack vs. Blake McKernan, and Mayweather Promotions protege Viddal Riley vs. UFC veteran Rashad Coulter.
