Eddie Hearn isn’t happy after Richardson Hitchins announced free agency
Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has given his thoughts after Richardson Hitchins announced his free agency in the ring after his win over George Kambosos Jr.
As we know, Eddie Hearn is one of the biggest promoters in boxing. He’s worked closely with a lot of great fighters over the years, and that includes Richardson Hitchins. Hearn was there by his side on Saturday night when he finished George Kambosos Jr, but it’s safe to say that he wasn’t too happy with the comments he made in the ring afterwards.
Hitchins made it known that he was now a free agent, essentially severing his ties with Eddie Hearn – at least for the time being. In an interview backstage, Eddie had the following to say on the matter.
Eddie Hearn unloads on Richardson Hitchins
โThereโs no loyalty in boxing. I remember when I met Richardson Hitchins. The door of his car was falling off. Iโve spent a lot of money, investing in a young man that I really respect,โ said Eddie Hearn to iFL TV, reacting to Richardson Hitchins announcing heโs a free agent inside the ring last Saturday night after his win over George Kambosos Jr.
โIโve boxed him at Madison Square Garden [against John Bauza]. I headlined him in Orlando [against Jose Zepeda], where we really didnโt sell a lot of tickets, and we lost a lot of money,โ said Hearn about Hitchins. โI kept with it. I headlined him in Las Vegas [against Gustavo Lemos], where again, we didnโt sell many tickets and we lost money.โ
โAs far as Richie [Hitchins] is concerned, Keith Connolly said, โMake sure youโre a free agent.โ But thatโs all right because you know what youโre dealing with.โ Do I want to be in the Richardson Hitchins business if itโs going to be like that?โ said Hearn.
