Eddie Hearn Still Interested In Booking Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook

Eddie Hearn is open to the idea of having Amir Khan and Kell Brook finally fight one another.

For quite some time, they have been linked to a fight, but with both men coming off a loss, Hearn revealed that timing-wise, the fight makes sense. Although it won’t be as big of a fight as it could’ve been, the promoter still wants to do the fight.

“Now, there’s a lot less money involved, but I’d still like to do the fight. I messaged [Khan] the other day, ‘Do you want to talk about it?’ He said, ‘Yeah, when I’m back from Dubai. We can have a chat.’ There’s still value in the fight. It’s not as big as it once was, but we’ll see,” Hearn told IFL TV (via boxingscene).

Kell Brook is coming off a fourth-round TKO loss to Terence Crawford for the WBO welterweight title. He is 39-3, with his other two losses coming at the hands of Errol Spence Jr. and Gennady Golovkin. Amir Khan, meanwhile, has not fought since July of 2019 when he TKO’d Billy Dib. Before the win, he too, was TKO’d by Terence Crawford for the belt.

Although the fight makes sense, last time it was rumored, Brook had no interest in the bout.

“It will never happen,” Brook told Boxing News, “and whose fault do you think it is? It’s high risk and high reward for him but he doesn’t want the high risk. He lives a certain way, he has a certain lifestyle, and he spends money quick. He wants the money, I’m sure, but he doesn’t want the defeat.

“He’s just trying to capitalise on his name at this point. He’s just being a wh—. He wants easy fights against smaller opponents and he wants that Saudi Arabia money if he can get it. Real boxing knows this and they also are only interested in seeing Khan box me. They don’t want to see him box featherweights in Saudi Arabia.”

Who do you think would win, Kell Brook or Amir Khan?
