Eddie Hearn Targeting Australia Homecoming For New Champ Liam Paro

Eddie Hearn is hoping to go down to Australia so new champion Liam Paro can headline a card.

Paro beat Subriel Matias to win the IBF super lightweight title, and it was a performance that Hearn called a masterclass.

โ€œLiam [always] had an answer for him,โ€ Hearn said. โ€œHe stood and fought with him. We said heโ€™d have to get his respect. He did that. He pushed him back. He boxed off the back foot. It was an absolute masterclass. I had it so wide โ€“ with three or four rounds to go, Matias needed a knockout. It wasn’t even close…

โ€œHe did it โ€“ he changed his life,โ€ Hearn added. โ€œIt’s an incredible performance โ€“ an incredible win, as a massive underdog. And we said, he can do it. He’s got the skills โ€“ he’s got the ability โ€“ but he’s the one that had the cojones to come here. He’s just won the world title off one of the most dangerous men at 140lbs in his backyard.โ€

With the win, Liam Paro improved to 25-0 and now Eddie Hearn says the plan is to go to Australia and get him a big fight next time out.

โ€œYou’ve got Ryan Garcia; you’ve got [Isaac] โ€˜Pitbullโ€™ Cruz; you’ve got Teofimo Lopez, and you’ve got Richardson Hitchens up knocking soon for the mandatory,โ€ he said. โ€œThis is just an incredible night for Australian boxing and Liam Paro, a massive underdog, to come in and do that in an unbelievable performance.โ€

Paro holds notable wins over Montana Love, Yomar Alamo, Faith Keles, and Brock Jarvis among others.
