Eddie Hearn Thinks Anthony Joshua Boxes Deontay Wilder’s Ear Off

Eddie Hearn is confident Anthony Joshua would be too technical for Deontay Wilder.

Recently, reports came out that suggested Joshua and Wilder are in talks to face one another in the Middle East in December. It would be a massive fight and many think Wilder’s power would be too much for Joshua, but Hearn doesn’t see how Joshua would be the underdog in that fight.

“[Joshua has] boxed everybody that he’s been asked to box,” Hearn explained to ESBR Boxing. And now it’s a fight to avoid against Deontay Wilder. If you think ‘AJ’ is an underdog in that fight, in my opinion, you’re mad.”

If the fight does get made, Eddie Hearn knows Deontay Wilder is dangerous with his one-punch KO power. But, the promoter believes Anthony Joshua is very technical and would be able to avoid the power shots and just box Wilder up.

“Wilder’s very dangerous. AJ will box his ears off. But if he gets caught – like anyone else in the division – he could get stopped. But if he hits Wilder on the chin, he’s knocking him clean out,” Hearn said.

Ultimately, even though neither Joshua nor Wilder are holding titles, Hearn thinks the fight is still one of the biggest bouts in boxing. He knows the two are big draws and seeing them fight one another to secure a title shot would add intrigue to the fight.

“It’s just one of the greatest fights in boxing. Do you want to see the most exciting fights? Because they come with a bit of risk. So let’s roll the dice and see AJ put it on the line in a massive fight,” Hearn said.

As of right now, however, Joshua-Wilder has still not been agreed to but the hope is, it gets made in December.
