Errol Spence Jr. Shuts Down Retirement Talk
Errol Spence Jr. has shut down any talk of retirement.
Spence Jr. had been off social media for months but took to Instagram to announce he had cataract surgery. He then took to X to respond to fans and address his career following his loss and says he has no desire to retire and plans to change his lifestyle.
โYou might be right, but one trick got Olympics, kids in private school, mom and pops retired years ago, passport filled with stamps, and I donโt have to pick up a glove again if I donโt want to,โ Spence wrote.ย
โItโs cool. The Spence family appreciates them if theyโve been paying to watch this one-trick pony.
โNo bullsh!t โ the first three months [after losing to Crawford] I was waiting for someone in public to say something out of pocket in front of me. I was vulnerable to a lawsuit or something else around that time.
โSome of yโall forget what this sh!t really for until youโre 37 years old trying to make a comeback for 10% of what you used to make.
โAll that said, you can kill the retirement sh!t though. Yeah, I got my ass beat โ sh!t was past due. I didnโt live exactly like a boxer for the most part.โย
If Errol Spence Jr. is telling the truth and he wasn’t living the boxing lifestyle or taking it seriously, perhaps him starting to take it seriously will turn his career around.
Spence Jr. is 28-1 and coming off a lopsided TKO loss to Terence Crawford in a massive fight to unify the welterweight division. Spence Jr. has triggered his rematch clause, but there is no word on when the rematch will take place.
Do you think Errol Spence Jr. should retire?
