The Fight Everybody Should Want Is Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence

Stephen A. Smith has gone on record stating that’s he’s pleased with the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua match up, but isn’t sold that’s the No. 1 fight to make right now. He believes Terence Crawford versus Errol Spence Jr is the fight to make.

Smith first started out by saying Fury versus Joshua is a great match up, because ‘Anthony Joshua can box and punch, and we all know Fury is the best boxer in the heavyweight division. I don’t think there’s any debating that.’

He questions Fury’s punching power, but also questions Joshua’s chin. This is of course being discussed because the two heavyweight champions just signed a two-fight deal opposing one another.

Smith did however go on to say what the biggest fight is currently, in his respective opinion of course:

“The fight that everybody should want is Terence Crawford versus Errol Spence (Jr), period!

“That is the fight everyone should want. That is the No. 1 desirable fight in all of combat sports. There is no other fight that anyone should want more…

“The only reason the momentum for that has died down is because Errol Spence got in that nasty car crash.”

Smith continued: “Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea of Ryan Garcia versus ‘Tank’ Gervonta Davis. But in the end, despite that, nobody should want anything more in combat sports than Terence Crawford versus Errol Spence.

“We are being robbed, we are being denied of one of the great, great fights in boxing history. It’s a damn shame that we have to wait, and it’s a damn shame we don’t get to see Terence Crawford more, because this brother is special, and we need to see more of him.”

Smith and his ESPN partner then got into talking about how Floyd Mayweather Jr versus Manny Pacquiao should’ve been the best and biggest fight ever, but they waited far too long to finalize it and actually make the walk.

Smith gets a lot of backlash from fans and fellow media members, and for a good reason, but he’s completely right about this, it would be a true shame if that happens here as well. We need this fight.

Tyson Fury will be defending his WBC & Ring Magazine heavyweight championships, while challenging for Anthony Joshua’s WBA, WBO, IBF, & IBO heavyweight championships at a to be determined date.

Terence Crawford on the other hand would be defending his WBO welterweight championship, while challenging for Errol Spence’s WBC & IBF welterweight championships, should this fight go down next.

Tell me, what’s a better welterweight fight to make right now?
