Floyd Mayweather Addresses His Family Tragedies For the First Time
Floyd Mayweather has addressed losing the mother of his children and his uncle Roger Mayweather in public for the first time.
Mayweather has had a tough start to 2020. His former partner and the mother to three of his children Josie Harris passed away last month. The 40-year-old was found unresponsive in her car at her home in Valencia, California on March 10 before being declared dead – the cause of death is so far unknown.
Just days later his uncle and trainer Roger also passed away at 58-years-old. The legendary boxing coach was battling health issues for several years before his death.
Mayweather took to social media last night to speak openly about the losses he has suffered this year. He also pledged to help in any way he can during the current global pandemic, he said.
โI havenโt had a chance to come out and really talk. Iโve been dealing with a lot. As far as dealing with the loss of the mother of my children, she was a significant other. A great woman, a great person. Dealing with [the loss of] a great trainer, my uncle, a father figure, Roger Mayweather.
โIโm affected by this, it hurts to see what the world is going through. No one is perfectโฆ I make mistakes all the time. The only thing I can do is try to become better.
โIโm here to help this world become a better place. With everything thatโs going on, Iโm going to continue to do my part. donโt have to show the world what Iโm doing, I can do something behind closed doors. I will continue to give back and I will never talk about it. As long as God knows that Iโm doing a good deed, that whatโs important to me.
โTo everyone in the world, from Floyd Mayweather and The Money Team, we love you all and we will always be there for this country as well as this world. (Transcribed by Bossip.com)
