Frank Warren: Triller Didn’t Want To Make Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury

Fury

Boxing promoter Frank Warren tried to make Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury a reality. Triller had other ideas, however.

After they had gone back-and-forth in recent weeks, Fury recently called the YouTuber out for a boxing match along with some help from WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and Shaquille O’Neal.

That led to the following response from Paul:

“The desperation is seeping through the pores of the Fury family. It’s quite embarrassing. The heavyweight champion of the world is on Instagram, talking about Jake Paul, begging me to fight his brother. Listen Tommy, focus on your fight that’s in a couple of weeks, that nobody even knows about by the way.

“You’re literally picking someone to fight you in three weeks, who hasn’t even been training. You don’t even have an opponent who is going to go through a real camp. Fight someone real, do a real pay-per-view and then maybe we can chat. The last guy you fought was 0-9. The people you’ve fought have a combined total record of 15 wins and 250 losses.

“I’ve already knocked out an NBA player, so leave Shaq out of this. You guys are desperate. You have some ladders to climb to get onto my level, my friend.”

While Paul wasn’t a fan of the matchup, many in the boxing world were, including Warren who tried to get Triller — who promoted Paul’s fight with Ben Askren — on board.

However, they wanted that fight to happen in the future rather than right now. With Paul signing with Showtime since, Warren will now look to make the fight happen with them instead.

“We were talking to Triller about making Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury, but basically they didn’t want it,” Warren said (via BoxingScene). “They said maybe in around four or five fights’ time and all this rubbish. Now Paul’s gone to Showtime so we’re going to reach out to them and see what we can do.

“Paul apparently was saying that us talking 50-50 in any potential fight was ridiculous but it wasn’t us who called the fight out to begin with! A lot of this YouTube stuff, I don’t have a lot of time for – but he called us out! It’s not like Tommy’s unknown either. He’s got a few million followers on his social media platforms, he was on Love Island in this country and obviously he’s Tyson’s brother so he does bring something to the table.”
