Daniel Dubois’ big underdog status vs Oleksandr Usyk doesn’t bother Frank Warren

Daniel Dubois‘ promoter Frank Warren isn’t concerned about the Brit’s status as the underdog heading into his highly anticipated rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.
Next month, Daniel Dubois will attempt to defeat Oleksandr Usyk and become the new king of the heavyweight division – and he’ll do so at Wembley Stadium, in the same venue where he was able to knock out Anthony Joshua. While everyone acknowledges that he carries the sort of power that can cause Usyk real problems, the majority of fans and pundits are of the belief that he won’t quite be able to get the job done.
Of course, a lot of people said the same thing heading into his clash with Joshua. For Daniel Dubois, this isn’t something that’s going to bother him all too much given what he’s been through in his career. He knows what it’s like to experience setbacks but instead of folding, he has dusted himself off and improved his in-ring abilities.
Frank Warren has been there to watch the growth of Daniel Dubois as he matures into a genuine member of the heavyweight elite. In a recent interview, he gave his own thoughts on the idea that his fighter isn’t tipped to win this contest.
Frank Warren backs Daniel Dubois
“He’s not been a favourite going into his last four fights. Make that five fights because the bookmakers are making Usyk the favourite,” Warren said to The Ring about Daniel Dubois being the underdog going into his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk on July 19th.
“He wasn’t a favourite in Poland, those Riyadh Season fights with Miller and Hrgovic, and certainly wasn’t against Joshua, where he went into the lion’s den.”
“I ain’t worried about that, and he’s not worried about it. He’s in a good place of mind, believes in himself and his ability as we do. That’s why we’ve made the fight,” said Warren.
