Full Card For Jorge Linares – Javier Fortuna Announced

Golden Boy Promotions has announced the undercard matchups for its upcoming Jorge Linares-Javier Fortuna show, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 28.

The six-bout card features several up and coming talents, but it is the co-main event that will likely attract the most attention. The evening’s penultimate bout will see rising prospect Rashidi Ellis (22-0, 14 KO) defend his WBA Continental Americas welterweight title against Brad Solomon (28-3, 9 KO).

Solomon is coming into this bout on the back of two straight losses to Vergil Ortiz Jr.and Alexis Rocha. This fight will give fans and pundits a chance to see where Ellis sits in terms of his development.

The 23-year-old Rocha (16-0, 10 KO) will also be competing on the night, but in a fight that looks a lot less competitive than his last outing against Solomon. The undefeated Rocha will defend his WBC Continental Americas welterweight title against the Philippines’ Jameson Bacon (23-4, 15 KO).

This will be the first time Bacon has competed in the States, and only the second time he has fought outside of his home country. The 30-year-old has not faced anyone of note and will be unlikely to trouble Rocha.

Bacon will not be the only Filipino competing on the night with his compatriot Neil Tabanao (17-7, 11 KO) set to take on Lamont Roach Jr (19-1-1, 7 KO). Roach is coming off a failed tilt at Jamel Herring’s WBO super featherweight title and should have a far easier night at the office against Tabanao — who comes into this bout on a three-fight losing streak.

After suffering the first professional defeat of her career last November, at the hands of Seniesa Estrada, Marlen Esparza (7-1, 1 KO) will make her return to the squared circle and will meet Jacky Calvo (12-5-1, 1 KO) in an eight-round flyweight bout. Undefeated Uzbekistani super middleweight Bektemir Melikuziev (5-0, 4 KO) will also be in action when he takes on Mexico’s Alan Campa.
