Gennady Golovkin Close To Finalizing DAZN Deal

DAZN

Gennady Golovkin is close to getting a deal done with streaming service DAZN that is not only going to get him paid nicely but also has some corporate bonuses to go along with it.

It’s no secret that DAZN is making a big push into the combat sports world by securing deals with some of the biggest names in boxing as well as has a deal with Bellator MMA, which is the second largest MMA promotion in the world.

Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger reported on Sunday that the former unified middleweight champion is close to finalizing a multi-fight deal with DAZN. This new contract will call for a minimum of three fights with as many as six in total.

It was noted in the report that the first fight will be scheduled for late spring/early summer which will see him earn at least $10 million.

“The package gives Golovkin equity in DAZN, a perk Eddie Hearn, Golden Boy Promotions and even Canelo didn’t receive as part of their deals, per sources. Golovkin, who turns 37 in April, also ensured he’ll receive guaranteed dates for GGG Promotions, which doesn’t have any signed fighters yet, per sources. The Kazakh is looking to sign talent from his home country and beyond as he prepares for life after competition.”

The belief is that if Canelo Alvarez beats Daniel Jacobs on May 4th then the chances of a third fight happening are good.
