Gervonta Davis Defeats Leo Santa Cruz By Stunning Uppercut KO
WBA Lightweight champion Gervonta Davis claimed himself another title defeating Leo Santa Cruz to claim his WBA Junior Lightweight title.
After a sixth-round war that had seen Santa Cruz take the early rounds, Davis managed to find success heading into the sixth round where the pair engaged in an aggressive slugfest with one another. Santa Cruz looked to be finding some success until Davis landed a shocking uppercut putting Santa Cruz on the canvas out cold.
This bout saw the 37/2/1 Leo Santa Cruz suffer his second career loss coming only by Carl Frampton before, a fight in which Santa Cruz avenged in his immediate rematch. Davis leaves this fight a two-division champion, undefeated at 24-0 with 23 wins coming via knockout.
