Gervonta Davis Says There’s No Pressure To KO Rolly Romero
Gervonta Davis says he has no pressure to KO Rolly Romero, instead, he’s just focused on getting his hand raised.
Davis and Romero are set to headline a 12-round lightweightย on May 28 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York live on Showtime pay-per-view. It’s a fascinating fight and one that has been in the works for years and has seen both men trash talk one another. With that, many want to see the winner get the KO, but Davis says there is no pressure to get the KO.
โNah [there is no pressure to get knockout],โ Davis told BoxingScene.com. โThe thing with Cruz I knew I wasnโt, you know, actually gonna get the knockout. I knew it was gonna be a little tough. First of all, he was shorter than me. Iโve only fought like two shorter dudes than me in my career. I knew that me punching down, it was gonna mess my hand up and I messed my hand up already in camp. So I thought I knew that it was gonna be a little problem.โ
In Gervonta Davis’ last fight, he beat Isaac Cruz by decision in a lackluster fight and one some thought Cruz should have won. According to Davis, he says his training camp was not good but he has fixed those problems ahead of this bout with Rolly Romero.
โI wasnโt doing a lot of things [that I used to be doing] to get me at this point. Iโm back on that. Iโm ready to put on a great performance,” Davis said.
Davis is looking to defend his WBA lightweight title on Saturday night and should he win, it could set up massive fights with Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez, or George Kambosos Jr. among others. But, in order for those to happen, he will need to beat Romero on Saturday night.
Do you think Gervonta Davis will KO Rolly Romero?
