Jack Catterall To Box Regis Prograis in August
Jack Catterall will be making a quick turnaround to box Regis Prograis on August 24 at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
Catterall is coming off a decision win over Josh Taylor on May 25 and will be fighting three months later against Prograis, with the winner in line to fight for a world title.
โRegis Prograis is a fantastic fighter and heโs coming off the back of a huge PPV world title fight against Devin Haney,โ Catterall stated in the official press release. โHeโs a former two-time world champion, heโs been over here to the U.K. before, had a life and death with Josh Taylor, and Iโm looking forward to sharing the ring with such a great fighter…
โRegis, two-time champion, I want that smoke,โ Catterall said. โI think heโs slower on his feet, Regis is a tough fighter, [but] heโs 35 now. I think heโs going to make me look good. Heโs going to come, bring it. Itโs a tough fight but one I expect to win.โ
Prograis, meanwhile, says this is a fight that he has always wanted after they were supposed to fight a couple of years ago.
โThis is a fight Iโve always wanted,โ he stated. โWe were supposed to fight a few years ago, but it never materialized. Now is the perfect time. I view Jack as one of the best in the world at 140 pounds. Itโs a great fight because Jack is eager to become a world champion and Iโm looking to become a three-time world champion. On top of that, Iโm excited to be coming to the U.K.โ
Jack Catterall is 29-1 as a pro and coming off the win over Taylor to extend his win streak to three. His lone loss is a controversial decision to Taylor. The Brit also holds notable wins over Jorge Linares, Tyrone Nurse, Ohara Davies, Joe Hughes, and Martin Gethin.
Regis Prograis, meanwhile, is 29-2 and is coming off a decision loss to Devin Haney in December to lose his WBC light welterweight title. Prograis has notable wins over Jose Zepeda, Joel Diaz Jr., Terry Flanagan, and Kiryl Relikh among others.
