Jake Paul big betting favorite to defeat Nate Diaz ahead of potential 2023 boxing match

Undefeated professional boxer, Jake Paul has opened and currently remains a significant betting favorite to defeat former UFC lightweight title challenger, Nate Diaz in an expected future boxing showdown.

Paul, who currently boasts an unbeaten 6-0 professional record, has managed to land victories over a series of mixed martial arts veterans and former titleholders since his transition to professional boxing back in 2020.

Last time out, the Ohio native headlined a Showtime pay-per-view event back in October of last year in Glendale, Arizona – defeating former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva in a unanimous decision success.

The victory came as Paul’s sixth consecutively as a professional boxing, having previously twice beaten former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, including a rematch knockout win, and former Bellator and ONE Championship kingpin, Ben Askren.

Recently, the YouTuber and vocal social media influencer has welcomed a potential professional boxing match against UFC welterweight contender alum, Diaz. And at the time of publication, currently sits as high as a -300 betting favorite over the Stockton veteran, who sits as a sizeable +240 betting underdog on a variety of betting platforms, including no wagering sites.

Ending his lengthy tenure under the banner of Zuffa LLC last year, Diaz, the younger brother of former Strikeforce and WEC champion, Nick Diaz, most recently headlined UFC 279.

Closing the curtain on a September pay-per-view event for the organization, Diaz snapped a run of two consecutive losses with a fourth round guillotine choke win over former interim UFC lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson.

Diaz was originally scheduled to headline the event against the undefeated welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev, however, the latter missed weight by a whopping seven and a half pounds for his bout with Diaz, resulting in the clashes cancellation.

In the time since, Diaz, who officially became a free agent back in November of last year and is now free to field offers from other promotions as he eyes a potential move to boxing to boot, has been linked continually with a fight against Paul.

So much so, in fact, the duo shared a verbal back-and-forth back in October at that previously mentioned Showtime pay-per-view event, prior to Paul’s decision win over former UFC pound-for-pound kingpin, Silva.

Yet to compete professionally in professional boxing, along with his high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu game, Diaz, as well as his his elder sibling, Nick Diaz, have both been touted as two of the better punching talents in mixed martial arts in years gone by.

Despite landing an impressive 12 career submission wins including his finish over Ferguson last year, Diaz has five knockout successes on his résumé – including stoppages against the likes of Rory Markham, and Gray Maynard.

Famously defeating former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor back in early 2016, Diaz infamously rocked the Dubliner on the feet with an abundance of strikes in the second round, before eventually stuffing a takedown and submitting the 34-year-old with a rear-naked choke.

Over the course of his naive professional career, Paul, on the other hand, has landed four career knockout wins from six total fights – stopping both Woodley and the aforenoted, Askren with brutal one-punch KO’s.
