Olympic silver medal winner Joe Joyce has talked up his forthcoming fight against Daniel Dubois who eased past Ricardo Snijders in two rounds in Saturday’s main event at the BT Sport studios.

Dubois hasn’t fought in eight months managed to shake off some ring rust with an impressive performance against late replacement opponent Snijders. The British power puncher dropped his opponent four times on route to a second-round stoppage win.

Joyce was twice been scheduled to face off against Dubois but the fight has been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. The pair are now expected to fight on October 24 although that date is not definite and depends on restrictions with COVID-19 and the ability to allow a fans to attend.

Joyce was not surprised by Dubois’ emphatic victory but impressed nonetheless, he said.

“It was something I thought Dubois would do. I thought he’d get the stoppage in round one. It was expected. It was a shame he didn’t have Pfeifer as his fight. Snijders, all credit, he came down to take a beating.”

“It’s an easy day’s work. I would have done the same, maybe even quicker. Dubois is a devastating puncher. It was interesting to watch and I was ready to go in there with him. The adrenaline was running. He shows them body shots that landed nicely in his mid-section. I’d have to watch out for those shots. He’s got a great jab.

“I remember sparring him on the Team GB set up and he’s got a great jab. That’s the first thing that he will try and hit me with, knowing me he probably will hit me. There’s things for me to think of.” (Transcribed by Boxing Scene)

Joyce has been on a fast track to world title contention since turning professional in 2017. The 34-year-old has picked up high profile wins over the likes of Bryant Jennings, Alexander Ustinov and Bermane Stiverne during his 11-fight career. Last time out he stopped Michael Wallisch inside three rounds in what many expect to be his final warm up fight before squaring off against Dubois.
