Joseph Parker is expecting to not only beat Joe Joyce but stop him in a violent fashion.
Parker and Joyce are set to fight for the interim WBO heavyweight title on September 24 in England. It’s a big fight for both of their careers and for Parker who is looking at a chance at becoming a world champion again and with the fight just weeks away, the Kiwi is extremely confident he will break Joyce and get a stoppage win.
āItās the first press conference Iāve been involved in thatās quite fiery. Usually, itās quite calm, and everyone is respectful, but because this fight has taken so much time to make, thereās a lot of frustrations in the air,ā Parker told talkSPORT.Ā
āI back myself 100% going into this fight. Iām going to have a great camp. How am I going to beat Joe Joyce? Iām going to break him down. They said, āwhat if you land a punch that doesnāt affect him?ā I said, ālisten, even if it takes one or 10, Iām going to break him down to the body and head and get him out of there.ā There are plans for him to get me out of there as well, but weāve both very durable with good chins. I think I have a very good engine as well. So Iām very excited about this challenge. I see it as a big challenge. Heās a great fighter and has achieved a lot of things with a good amateur pedigree behind him, but Iām still here. Iām going to give it everything I have, and I believe I belong at the top.ā
Joseph Parker was the former WBO heavyweight champion as he beat Andy Ruiz Jr. by decision to win the vacant title. He then defended it twice before losing it to Anthony Joshua.
