Irish sensation Katie Taylor put a definitive end to her trilogy with Amanda Serrano by defeating her via majority decision at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.

While it may not have been the sort of all-action affair that their first encounter was, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano still put on a great performance for the fans on Friday. They went out there and produced a fight that showed how much they respect one another’s power, as it was far more of a defensive chess match.

In the end, the judges believed that it was Katie Taylor who did the best work, awarding her the majority decision win. The two warriors embraced after the fight, seemingly putting an end to a rivalry that has been ongoing for nearly four years.

After the bout, Katie Taylor had the following to say about how it all played out and the legacy they’ve created for themselves.

“It is such a historic fight and a pleasure to share the ring with her. We are history makers forever.”

“I want to thank Amanda Serrano, what an amazing fighter,” said Taylor.

“I thought I did enough [to win]. I boxed smart and well, she wasn’t catching much tonight but it is always a close contest.

For Taylor, she’ll go back home and decide whether or not she wants to carry on competing, or whether she wants to ride off into the sunset. Regardless of what she decides, this moment – and this series triumph – can never be taken away from her.
