Lennox Lewis says he is in talks to return to the ring to box Mike Tyson, but it is not a done deal.

Recently, Tyson confirmed he will be back in the ring in September against Lewis. The former heavyweight champion said he was going to return in May against Evander Holyfield, however, that lost steam. Now, according to Tyson, he says he will fight Lewis.

“I’m gonna fight Lennox Lewis,” Tyson told TMZ Sports on the way out of Catch in L.A. … “September.”

Although many thought that meant it was a done deal, Lewis said he is talking and hopes the deal can be done soon.

“Not yet, but soon — maybe. We’re talking!” Lewis said tonight at the Ruiz-Arreola PPV, where he’s working for FOX as a broadcaster (via BadLeftHook).

Mike Tyson, of course, made his return to the ring last November where he fought Roy Jones Jr. to a draw. He ended his career on a two-fight losing streak after losing to Kevin McBride and Danny Williams. He did fight Lennox Lewis in 2002 where Lewis won by KO in the eighth-round.

Lennox Lewis, meanwhile, is 55-years-old and has not fought since 2003 when he scored a TKO win over Vitali Klitschko. He is 41-2-1 with notable wins over Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Hasim Rahman, and Shannon Briggs among others.

For many fans, they will be excited to see Mike Tyson box again. After his draw against Roy Jones Jr., he said he would return and look for the KO when he boxes again.

“I want to do it again, and I want to do it against someone I could go all out on,” Tyson revealed on his Hotboxin with Mike Tyson podcast. “It made me interested in wanting to do it again. I wanted to go the distance. I didn’t want to knock anybody out. That’s what people expected, but I wanted to go the distance.”
