Manny Pacquiao vs Mario Barrios: Oscar De La Hoya issues warning

Manny Pacquiao

Ahead of the reported showdown between a returning Manny Pacquiao and Mario Barrios, Oscar De La Hoya has given his thoughts on the contest.

As many of you know, Manny Pacquiao is set to end his boxing retirement at the age of 46. He will battle it out with Mario Barrios in a contest that has left some scratching their heads. It’s been a few years since ‘Pacman’ walked away from the ring for seemingly the last time, but now, he’s ready to try and prove that he still has what it takes to compete with some of boxing’s elite.

For Mario Barrios, this is an opportunity to put a big name on his record. If he’s able to get through someone like Manny Pacquiao, then at the very least, it’ll be one of the biggest moments of his career to date.

Oscar De La Hoya, meanwhile, had a few things to say on the matter when asked about it in a recent interview with Seconds Out.

Oscar De La Hoya warns Manny Pacquiao

“I wish him all the best. Obviously the truth is the truth, he’s obviously not the same Pacquiao that fought me, that fought the greats. I wish him the best, be careful up there, he’s not young like he used to be but I’m sure he still has that power so anything can happen but yeah, just be careful.”

Pacquiao is doing what he feels is best for him and his career, and very few people will try and dissuade him from that. Of course, this is still a risky move for him given his age, and Barrios is a dangerous fighter – but if Manny can pull off the upset, it’d be one of the most remarkable stories in recent memory.
